Превод на пълномощно за пътуване в чужбина от агенция арте.док

You have decided to travel abroad? Wonderful! But don’t forget you have an important task – preparing the necessary documents. This includes, for example, powers of attorney that you need to have translated and if necessary – legalized.

It is important to have all documents you may need during your trip, since you wouldn’t want any unnecessary difficulties during your vacation outside Bulgaria, right?

Types of power of attorney when travelling abroad

There are several types of power of attorney when travelling abroad that you should know about.
Today we will tell you about the ones most frequently required by authorities abroad and thus the ones most often translated.

Both natural and legal persons frequently need to have the following types of power of attorney translated and/or legalized.

Power of attorney on driving a motor vehicle

If you are travelling with a car that belongs to someone else, a company or leased car, it is mandatory to have a translated power of attorney on driving the vehicle. It is usually required when passing a frontier but it may also be required if the car is stopped for a check on the territory of another country.
In Bulgaria, translating a power of attorney for a car is most frequently done for travels to Greece, Italy or Germany. In most cases a translation into English would be sufficient.
However, for countries outside the European Union, for example Türkiye, you may have to translate and legalize this document into Turkish.

Power of attorney/declaration for a child travelling abroad

According to Bulgarian legislation, persons below 18 years of age may not leave the Republic of Bulgaria without a power of attorney/declaration for a child travelling abroad, signed by a parent(s), guardian(s) or custodian(s).

Of course, the child needs to have a passport or ID card, but the notarized written consent of the parents on the child’s travelling abroad is also necessary, if the child is travelling on their own or with one of the parents only.

The declaration must be notarized in order to be recognized by the Bulgarian authorities when leaving or entering the country. If you are currently abroad, such a declaration can be certified by Bulgarian consular clerks in the consular services of Bulgarian embassies.

Another option would be to have the declaration certified by a notary public in the foreign country, but in this case, it must be certified with an Apostille if the country in question is a party to the Hague Convention.

Power of attorney to be presented before certain institutions

For natural persons, such a power of attorney is used both before administrative and customs authorities, as well as tax authorities, insurance companies, banks and many others.

For companies, such a power of attorney is necessary when doing business abroad, for example signing contracts, representing the company before the state authorities, participating in tenders, etc.

A translated power of attorney enables representation before the relevant institutions. In certain specific cases, a notarized power of attorney may need to be legalized as well, in order to be able to use it legally.

What are the deadlines and prices for such a translation?

We at arte.doc Translation Agency can offer you three options suited to your budget and available time.
These are:

  • standard order with a deadline of 4 business days
  • fast order with a deadline of 48 hours
  • express order with a deadline up to 4 working hours

These deadlines are valid for documents of up to 5 translation pages. A standard power of attorney most often amounts to 1-2 translation pages.

We provide translations into
more than 36 languages. The translation price of a power of attorney into various languages can be found in the Price list on our website and at our offices.

Translation and legalization of a power of attorney

There is one requirement for the legalization of a Bulgarian power of attorney, namely that the power of attorney must be notarized. The certified original (not a copy) is legalized by the Ministry of Justice using an Apostille. After that, the document is translated into the language you need by a licensed/certified translator. The finished translation is certified at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Even though the translation may be done in as little as 4 working hours, the process of legalizing a power of attorney takes a lot more time. A standard order for legalization is 8 business days, and the fastest options we can offer you is 4 business days.

These times are dependent on the deadlines of state institutions and are beyond the control of the translation agency.

A power of attorney issued abroad must be certified by a notary public and in most cases needs to have an Apostille affixed by the issuing country. In order to be valid in Bulgaria, it must be translated by a certified translator and the signature certified before a notary public.
