If the document is issued in Bulgaria, it should be an original or a duplicate with an ink seal and a signature from the relevant archdiocese and from the Holy Synod. The document is translated, after which the translation and the document itself are authenticated in the Consular Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

If the document is issued outside Bulgaria, but by a country which signed the Hague Convention, the document must have an Apostille. The document is translated and then submitted to the Consular Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the translation is certified.
